We are feeling so incredibly grateful to have been able to make so many wedding day dreams come true in 2023 and we’re looking forward to celebrating with all of our couples in 2024!! In the meantime, the holiday season is upon us – YAY!! It’s always such a special and magical time to celebrate with friends and family! The holidays are oftentimes made *extra special* when we also get to celebrate ENGAGEMENTS! Research shows, year after year, that the Holidays are the most popular time of the year for proposals.

We know that with engagements come with all of the questions from friends and family (who love you SO MUCH) and with those questions comes a bit of stress. Never fear, fiancé, your award winning wedding planning team here at CT Wedding Group has your back and will guide you through this exciting process with ease!

We’ve got the best advice from our incredible Director of Sales, Jessica Hill. Here is a list of the 5 things you should do after getting engaged!

Here are the FIRST 5 THINGS you should do when you get engaged!

  1. First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! The very first thing that you should do is share the big news and do some SERIOUS celebrating! Pop the champagne and feel ALL of the joyous feelings, this is such an exciting time!!! Soak it up and enjoy it with the love of your life and your closest family and friends!! We live in a world where about 30ish +/- seconds after you post a photo of your engagement ring, the questions about your big day will start to flow in, ‘where and when?!’ Keep in mind that everyone is just so excited to celebrate with you, but we know how overwhelming these questions can be!

That’s where we at Connecticut Wedding Group (aka your new BESTIES) come in! We recommend discussing the following topics as your next steps:
  1. Talk about your wedding style together
  2. What do you envision on your big day?
  3. Think about when you’d like to get married (month, year, day of the week)
  4. Discuss your wedding budget

Once you’ve had these chats, just know our award winning wedding planning team is ready to help you have the BEST WEDDING EVER and now it’s time to find your perfect venue!  Call or Text us at 860-215-4525 to schedule your tour to see The Barns at Wesleyan Hills, The Pavilion On Crystal Lake and Lyman Orchards Golf Club! US: What questions should we ask on our tour?

JESSICA: Since each couples’ priorities can vary, think about what’s most important to both of you. My best recommendation is to think, when guests leave your wedding and are RAVING to friends, family, co-workers, etc., what do you want them to say about their experience? That will create the best guide to questions you’ll want to ask when you tour a venue.

To give you a few ideas:

*Does the venue host multiple events in a day? Or will you and your guests have the space to yourselves for the day?

*What type of support does the venue provide during your engagement and the day of the wedding? Do you meet somebody the day of the wedding, or do you have a team available to support you every step of the way?

*What is included in the wedding experience that a venue offers?

US – How do we find our venue style?

JESSICA – Great question! Maybe you’ve been building a pinterest board for a while. Perhaps you’ve found inspiration through other social media platforms or friends’ weddings that you’ve seen or attended. Your wedding style should reflect your personalities and where you and your guests will feel comfortable and have the best time!

US – How many venues should I plan to tour?

JESSICA – I think that this is one of the most common questions couples ask me. The truth is, while finding the right venue often means that the style, budget and date availability all fall into place, it’s a FEELING. Many of our couples visit our venues first, fall in love, and don’t need to see anything else. So I don’t think there’s a specific number you need to see before finding the one. Schedule a tour for your top choice(s), and see how it goes. When you walk into the perfect venue for you, you’re just going to KNOW.
