Behind the Scenes at the Far Hills Race Meeting: The Teamwork That Makes It Happen

Every year, the Far Hills Race Meeting brings thousands of people together for one of New Jersey’s most anticipated fall traditions. For Frungillo Hospitality, catering this iconic event is an opportunity to showcase what makes our team special. While guests gather to enjoy the races, food, and festivities, an incredible amount of preparation, coordination, and hard work happens behind the scenes to bring the day to life.

This year, with challenging outdoor conditions following rain the night before, our team showed exactly what Frungillo Hospitality is all about: showing up, working together, and delivering exceptional service no matter what the day brings.

One Team, Two States, One Big Event

One of the most rewarding parts of catering the Far Hills Race Meeting is seeing our Connecticut and New Jersey teams come together. Team members from both states worked side by side to prepare, set up, and serve hundreds of guests throughout the day.

An event of this scale requires more than great food and careful planning. It takes people who are willing to step in wherever they are needed, adapt to changing conditions, and support one another from the earliest hours of the morning through the final moments of service.

From preparing the space and organizing service stations to making sure guests were taken care of throughout the event, every person played an important role. The teamwork behind the scenes is what allows us to deliver the level of hospitality our guests expect, even when the conditions are less than ideal.

Early Mornings, Long Days, and a Shared Commitment

Long before guests arrived at Moorland Farm, our team was already hard at work. Early morning setup, detailed preparation, and coordinating every aspect of service all had to come together before the day’s festivities could begin.

After rain the night before left the grounds muddy and the outdoor setup more challenging, our team didn’t let the conditions get in the way. Everyone pitched in to get everything ready, keeping the focus on the guest experience and making sure the event was ready to go.

Serving hundreds of people at a major event takes energy, focus, and plenty of coordination. It also takes a team that understands the importance of every detail, from preparation and presentation to timing and attentive service.

That commitment doesn’t end when one event wraps up. The same dedication carries into our regular event schedule, including weddings that require their own extensive preparation and service well into the night. For our team, a demanding day at Far Hills is part of a much bigger commitment to delivering memorable experiences for every client we serve.

The People Behind the Hospitality

At Frungillo Hospitality, we know that exceptional events are made possible by exceptional people. Our culinary, event, and service teams bring different skills and experience to the table, but they share the same goal: making every event run smoothly and making every guest feel welcome.

What stands out most about days like the Far Hills Race Meeting isn’t just the scale of the event or the number of guests served. It’s watching people from different teams and locations come together, help one another, and take pride in the work they do.

That willingness to step up, put in the extra effort, and keep moving forward is what makes our team so special. It’s also what allows us to take on a wide range of events, from large-scale outdoor gatherings to weddings where every detail matters.

From Far Hills to the Wedding Weekend

Catering the Far Hills Race Meeting is a reminder of the work that happens behind every successful event. The early mornings, the long hours, the last-minute adjustments, and the collaboration between departments rarely get the spotlight, but they make all the difference.

And the work doesn’t stop there. Our teams continue to bring that same energy and dedication to the weddings and private events on our calendar, often moving from one demanding event to the next. Being able to come together for a major event like Far Hills and then turn around to deliver an exceptional wedding experience the following day speaks volumes about the people who make up Frungillo Hospitality.

We are incredibly proud of our Connecticut and New Jersey teams and grateful for everyone who contributed to making this year’s Far Hills Race Meeting a success.

Because at the end of the day, great hospitality starts with great people. And we’re fortunate to have a team that proves it time and time again.

The last 10 years in Charleston, South Carolina has given him experience in cooperate events, weddings, and restaurant management. He has also worked to help build and train teams from the ground up to produce the best experience internally and client facing.

His combined experience and passion in hospitality, and his degree in Interior Design help him to produce and execute beautifully detailed and thought out weddings from start to finish.

Wedding days can come with a whirlwind of emotions and seem to come to an end in the blink of an eye. Part of what Dimitri loves best is working closely with couples and their families to help navigate through those emotions on the special day, and to incorporate moments to pause and capture the beauty that comes with getting married!
