First up, Jessica and Bryan who got married with us this past June at the Barns at Wesleyan Hills. Read their proposal story and details on their Best Day Ever below.
US - How did you get engaged?! Tell us your engagement story! Share any photos you wouldn't mind us using on our blog post!
Jess – For the last several years, Bryan and I have been spending a Fall weekend away at a beautiful Airbnb called The Barn Swallow Suite– A 18th century refurbished barn nestled on a hilltop overlooking Pomfret, CT’s “Quiet Corner.” The Inn is set among stone walls, perennial gardens & scenic views. Open the door & walk onto the adjoining deck that overlooks gardens, hayfields, & a pond surrounded by wild flowers, and the hosts chickens! Over the years, Bryan and I have spent time drinking wine on the patio, enjoying the beautiful views, and having a relaxing weekend away. On October 22, 2021 Bryan and I were enjoying the warm and sunny Fall weather in the Adirondack chairs on the lawn of the Airbnb. Before I knew it, Bryan was down on his knee asking me to marry him! It was the perfect moment; just the two of us in a place that we hold dear to our hearts.
Us - How did you find CT Wedding Group?
Jess – I’ve always heard of The Barns at Wesleyan Hills and loved the photos I saw online. While doing research on potential venues, Bryan and I learned about all that CT Wedding Group offers and we knew we had to come see the venue in person!
Us - How did you know The Barns at Wesleyan Hills was your venue?
Jess – The day Bryan and I came to see the venue in person, we were immediately in love with the space. From the rolling lawns with the willow trees, to the beautifully lit barn, we knew that is where we wanted to have our special day.
Us - What are your top 3 favorite moments from your wedding day?
Jess – It’s so difficult to pick just three moments!
1. Our ceremony was short, sweet and perfect for us! Although we had to pivot our ceremony to be inside due to rain, it went off without a hitch and was more beautiful than I had imagined it to be! The CT Wedding Group staff transformed the space quickly, and our coordinator Shelby made sure everyone was on the same page with the new plan! Our ceremony was special as our officiant was Bryan’s brother, Scott who did an amazing job sharing our stories, and we had two readings given by Jess’s Uncle Robert, and Bryans cousin Claudine to further capture the essence of our relationship.
2. The food!!! CT Wedding Group makes sure you are well fed, and we were! Everything was absolutely delicious. And anyone that knows me… knows I am a big foodie and our wedding menu was outstanding.
3. Dancing the night away and the confetti cannon was SO MUCH FUN. Our dance floor was packed all night with our family and friends having a blast with heart sunglasses and glow sticks to boot. The confetti cannon was such a fun way to end the night with everyone by our sides.
Us - What do your guests still talk about from your wedding day?!
Jess – The food! Everyone has been consistently raving about how delicious everything was from cocktail hour to dessert, no one was disappointed!
